According to their record label (Metal Blade), The Black Dahlia Murder have finished recording their latest album and will be releasing it some time this fall. It’ll be the eighth studio release from the death metal heavyweights, who have been an ever-present staple on the touring circuit since the early 2000s.
Their touring schedule is so rigorous that it’s almost expected for members to leave the band after a while due to the stress. Most recently, the band lost its lead guitarist, Ryan Knight, who served the group for the past four albums.
Fortunately, they were able to find a quick replacement in Brandon Ellis – check out this video from a recent show if you’re having any doubts about his ability to fill the lead spot.
The upcoming album will be Ellis’ first record with The Black Dahlia Murder, and vocalist Trevor Strnad has expressed his exuberance via Twitter.

Another reassuring factor to keep your expectations high is the fact that their rhythm guitarist, Brian Eschbach, seems to be the architect behind the bulk of the music. The group has maintained its songwriting quality in spite of its revolving lineup.
No previews have been made available yet, but TBDM drummer Alan Cassidy (also a new member) has posted a video of a drum tracking session in progress that’ll have to suffice for now:
