Jamiroquai Finally Release “Automaton”

Jay Kay and the undisputed kings of acid jazz Jamiroquai just dropped a new album today! They’ve also released two brand new music videos, which you can watch just below.

The album was originally meant to be released in 2016, but for reasons unknown, it kept being pushed back for about 6 months. Automaton is the group’s first release in 7 years, so it’s very likely that Jay Kay & co wanted to make sure their mix was perfected for their comeback. Not to mention record labels are becoming more and more picky about their releases due to ever-expanding record release scheduling conflicts across the board.

Anyway, enough of that boring stuff. In an interview with Billboard, Jay Kay had this to say about the album:

“The inspiration for ‘Automaton’ is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings”

It sounds like the frontman is entering an age of complete maturity – or at least one without crack. His face looks a little more filled-out lately, which is a good sign as far as drug abuse is concerned.

New Singles: Cloud 9, Automaton

The track Cloud 9 sounds like classic Jamiroquai, something you’d hear on Traveling Without Moving – but the title track, Automaton, incorporates a little bit of new-age synth tones in the forefront of the mix…which is very cool, as far as I’m concerned!

Check out the singles and see for yourself:

As expected, Jamiroquai will be heading out on tour starting on May 24th! Stops include Japan, South Korea, Greece, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Finland, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Georgia, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, and Austria. That’s a long list…and they’re not sold out as of yet!
