A Little Background Info

Progressive technical death metal – that’s the most accurate sub sub genre I could come up with to describe the band Sikth. Anything I can do to stay away from using the word “djent”. They’re one of the original pillars who played a major role in birthing the many, many bands who have been utilizing odd syncopation and unconventional time-signatures to create a new wave of extremely heavy metal.

They released their landmark album in 2006, Death of a Dead Day, and then they disappeared for almost ten years before releasing an EP entitled Opacities in 2015 to an extremely excited metal community. In the years after their 2006 release, the entire genre they helped form (along with the likes of Meshuggah) had grown huge, and now represents the forefront of a new era in metal.
